PRONOUNS

Dalam Bahasa Inggeris, terdapat beberapa jenis pronouns (kata ganti nama). Berikut adalah jenis-jenisnya bersama contoh:

1. Personal Pronouns

Merujuk kepada orang atau benda tertentu.

Subjek: I, you, he, she, it, we, they

Contoh: She is reading a book.

Objek: me, you, him, her, it, us, them

Contoh: He gave me a gift.

2. Possessive Pronouns

Menunjukkan kepunyaan.

mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs

Contoh: This book is mine.

3. Reflexive Pronouns

Digunakan apabila subjek dan objek adalah sama.

myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves

Contoh: She prepared herself for the exam.

4. Demonstrative Pronouns

Menunjukkan sesuatu secara spesifik.

this, that, these, those

Contoh: This is my favorite shirt.

5. Relative Pronouns

Menghubungkan klausa relatif kepada ayat utama.

who, whom, whose, which, that

Contoh: The boy who won the race is my brother.

6. Interrogative Pronouns

Digunakan untuk soalan.

who, whom, whose, which, what

Contoh: Who is calling me?

7. Indefinite Pronouns

Merujuk kepada orang atau benda secara umum.

anyone, everyone, someone, nobody, something, everything, anything, etc.

Contoh: Someone knocked on the door.

8. Reciprocal Pronouns

Menunjukkan tindakan saling antara dua pihak atau lebih.

each other, one another

Contoh: They respect each other.

9. Distributive Pronouns

Merujuk kepada individu dalam kumpulan secara berasingan.

each, every, either, neither

Contoh: Each of the players received a medal.

Setiap jenis pronoun ini digunakan bergantung pada konteks ayat.

-POSSESIVE ADJECTIVES-

Kata ganti nama berikut adalah Possessive Adjectives (Kata Ganti Nama Pemilikan). Ia digunakan untuk menunjukkan kepunyaan dan mesti diikuti oleh kata nama.

1. my - digunakan untuk menunjukkan kepunyaan oleh "saya" atau "aku".

Contoh: This is my book.

2. your - menunjukkan kepunyaan oleh "kamu" atau "anda".

Contoh: Your car is outside.

3. her - menunjukkan kepunyaan oleh "dia" (perempuan).

Contoh: Her dress is beautiful.

4. his - menunjukkan kepunyaan oleh "dia" (lelaki).

Contoh: This is his pen.

5. our - menunjukkan kepunyaan oleh "kami" atau "kita".

Contoh: Our house is big.

6. their - menunjukkan kepunyaan oleh "mereka".

Contoh: Their garden is lovely.

7. its - menunjukkan kepunyaan bagi benda atau haiwan (tidak bernyawa atau tidak dinyatakan jantina).

Contoh: The cat is licking its paw.

Nota: Jangan keliru dengan Possessive Pronouns seperti mine, yours, hers, his, ours, theirs, its, kerana bentuk ini tidak diikuti oleh kata nama. Contohnya:
